Is Premature Aging a modern day phenomena?

The aging process is a natural part of life for every person. For some people, however, the effects of aging begin to show up much earlier
than normally expected. Premature aging is a growing problem in American society. The aging process is different for every individual and is affected by a number of factors, including heredity, sun exposure, diet, tobacco and alcohol use, and other environmental influences. There are many products and methods to prevent and reduce aging, from anti aging skin care, to strict exercising programs, to surgery. Before undergoing any kind of preventative care, you should be able to recognize the signs of aging, understand what causes them, and know the best ways to address each problem.

Reading the signs

The earliest and most visible effects of aging tend to occur on the face, with the onset of wrinkles and fine lines. Other signs tend to be less visible, but can have an influence on your life. These include the shrinking of muscles, loss of strength, stiffer muscles and joints, reduced flexibility, impaired heart function, vision and hearing difficulties, increased exhaustion, slower metabolism and higher susceptibility to diseases and complications such as Alzheimer's, stroke, heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes, and Parkinson's.

Knowing the causes

All of these signs are natural as far as the aging process is concerned. None of them are good changes, however, some can be reduced or prevented if you know how to treat them. It is important to know whether these changes are the result of natural aging, or the signs of early aging.

Natural aging

All living things age as time passes. This is a natural result. For humans, the peak of growth and development is reached in your mid-twenties. After that comes the transition phase, a process marked by a number of biological and psychological changes. The intensity of these changes is determined by the combined influence of genetics, lifestyle and environment. One theory suggests that everyone has a “biological clock” which runs down over time based on a predetermined genetic timetable which decides when changes occur in our bodies. Other theories suggest that aging is caused by the cumulative and progressive damage caused by the abuse of the environment.

Premature aging

There are many factors which are responsible for the onset of premature aging and which affect all the areas and systems of our bodies. These include excessive exposure to sun, poor nutrition, stress, inactivity, and exposure to pollution and toxic chemicals. Relations between the use of tobacco and the abuse of alcohol and pre mature aging have also been found. Both substances should be used in moderate quantities.

If you experience any sudden or dramatic changes in your body and your ability to perform your regular activities, it could be a sign of a medical problem, and you should consult your doctor.

Preventative care

Human aging is a slow and continues process which essentially begins from the moment of birth. Nothing can be done to stop aging from happening, though there are a number of ways to slow it down and prevent or minimize the effects.

One of the biggest complaints with aging is muscle and joint problems. However, most of these problems are not caused by age alone. The malfunctioning of muscles and joints could be due to reasons other than age like injuries or minor and major accidents and others. The usual recommendation is 30 minutes of physical activity a day. Anything you are able to do is beneficial as long as you keep it up on a regular basis.

Eating the right diet is also vital for preventing the onset of premature aging and for minimizing the problems that come with natural aging. Antioxidants such as lycopene, folate, omega-3 fatty acids, and Vitamins A, C and E should all be included in an anti aging diet. Antioxidants are important because they reduce the effect of free radicals. These are chemicals in your body that which cause the cells to become old and they have also been linked to heart disease and cancer.

Getting enough sleep is also important, especially for reducing stress and boosting your body's ability to fight disease. Seven to eight hours of sleep a night is usually recommended. Similarly your attitude can also play a large role in your health. Positive thinking, social interaction, laughter, and indulging in some kind of hobby thereby making productive use of leisure time can help you to a large extent.

The lifestyle decisions you make can have a huge and lasting effect on how you age and the overall quality of your life. Nobody in this world would like to suffer from premature aging. Therefore make sure that you follow the tips mentioned here if you want to get rid of this problem. Regular exercise, anti aging skin care, antioxidant-rich foods, and a healthy attitude are all important to prevent and reduce the effects of premature aging.
